Neutral Territory
While many home refurbishments begin with a clean slate, this Melbourne apartment is a study in working with what you have. The owners already possessed an impressive collection of antique furniture and eclectic pieces gathered from years of travel, which told a story and dictated the direction the new interior additions would take.
An earthy, timeless colour scheme runs throughout – cream upholstery, beige carpets and curtains,
cushions in grey and rusty brown. The colour intensifies in the dining area, with a bold Indigenous
artwork calling for mulberry-hued upholstery. But the collection is always the star, adding those lived-in
layers that make a home. Painting by Clifford Possum.
